Recycling is the reprocessing of mobile home axles and tires and selling them back to manufacturers for re-use on frames of new homes being constructed.
Remanufactured mobile home axles and tires
Axles and tires are bought by Hughes Wheel & Axle, Inc. and taken to one of our warehouse locations in either Zelienople, Pa., or Thomasville, Pa., where they are completely disassembled and inspected, making sure all worn parts are replaced by pulling all hubs, bearings, and wheel assemblies from the spindles of each axle. For brake axles, all magnets are checked electrically, all brake linings, adjuster screws and adjuster springs are checked. All welds are visually inspected. Each axle camber and spring arc is tested and measured for accuracy. After all parts are inspected and checked, anything needing replaced is, with either a new part, or a high quality used part. The axles are reassembled, painted, numbered, and shipped.
This procedure follows our H.U.D. approved inspection
program. Our third party inspector is TEI, Inc., from Washington, Pa.
Remanufacture of mobile home tires is done by getting each tire properly prepared. Each tire must be inflated to proper air levels. Any tires that are flat from nail holes, etc., must be patched, or repaired with inner tubes. This procedure also follows our H.U.D. approved inspection program, and our third party inspection services specifications.

The demand for reprocessed H.U.D. approved axles and tires is high within the industry. Not only does it save many natural resources, with respect to conservation issues, but also the need is there, due to the amount of money saved by manufactured housing manufacturers, and the high amount of success each housing manufacturer has had with reprocessed axles and tires. In the North-eastern area of the United Stated, used axles and tires versus new axles, versus problems, is a very low percentage ratio.
